HHW: Needles

Sharps

Used Sharps (syringes, needles and lancets) can be harmful if they are not handled properly. They can hurt people collecting and handling garbage and recyclables. DO NOT throw used sharps in the garbage, in recycling bags or in plastic jugs and bottles!

SHARPS SHOULD ONLY BE PLACED IN AN APPROVED SHARPS CONTAINER

The safe way to dispose of sharps is to pick up a sharps container at your local pharmacy or CDA supply centre. When filled, return it to your pharmacy or CDA supply centre. You can also make arrangements to bring sharps to the Management Centres. Sharps should never go in recycling or garbage bags.
